Beckman: In support of Anna Thomasson for mayor of Paradise Valley

Posted

Recently I attended the Paradise Valley mayoral debate sponsored by the Arizona Digital Free Press. It was a well-moderated debate with crisp time frames, attended by about 20 residents. As expected, candidates Thomasson and Stanton were thoughtful, respectful and covered the issues well.

For much of the debate, the candidates were aligned on the issues with the small exception of a discussion of resort development.

As a CFO, I am compelled to stay informed about the town’s finances. I have looked at the numbers and fully acknowledge the importance of the robust resort revenue stream to Paradise Valley. But as a 22-year resident, I also know we must preserve our quality of life. Ms. Thomasson understands this balance and has demonstrated such in reviewing and approving resort applications during her six years on council.

I moved to Paradise Valley in 2002 for its wide-open spaces and gorgeous night skies, not because I needed a resort within walking distance.

I am in agreement with Ms. Thomasson and her balanced, resident-centric position.

We need a mayor that will place the residents of Paradise Valley above all else. I believe Anna will be that mayor. Please join me in voting for her in November.
