Gilbert's holiday programs, activities open for registration

Registration is open for the more than 400 classes and events this fall and winter for residents and visitors from Gilbert Parks and Recreation. 

Among the highlights:

 Boo Bash 2024, at Freestone Recreation Center on Oct. 25, allows families to engage in arts and crafts, games, inflatables and a petting zoo.

Halloween Boo-zy Bingo, at McQueen Park Activity Center on Oct. 12, is a BYOB (beer and wine only) event for adults 21 and older.

Not Just for Turkey Camp, at the Southeast Regional Library on Nov. 9, is a STEAM adventure that includes activities including designing a corn maze, engineering the Mayflower and making a pumpkin pie slime.

Jingle & Mingle Christmas Crafts Workshop, at the Gilbert Community Center on Dec. 17, is designed specifically for 55-plus active adults, giving them the opportunity to create beautiful holiday decorations and gifts. Some projects will include ornament making, wreath decorating and more, and supplies are provided.

Santa Paws Pictures allows for pictures with Santa Claus from 1-2:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Gilbert Community Center.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town along with Mrs. Claus at the Gilbert Community Center on Dec. 9 for a morning full of cookie decorating and crafts. Families will also get one printed photo with Santa as a memento.

Challenge Island – Frostbitten Camp is for kids ages 5-13 to go on an icy adventure featuring activities like designing your own ice palace and making your own frosty slime and frozen treats. The winter camp runs Dec. 30-Jan. 3.

Paws in the Preserve series, which is new this year, allows you to bring your four-legged friend to the Riparian Preserve. where dog are encouraged to wear costumes.

Parent/tot workshops, which take place Wednesday mornings for children under the age of 5 and their parent, are also new this year to the preserve.
