Gilbert is celebrating fall with Harvest in the Heritage District.

For October, downtown Gilbert will show off some fall color and host fun activities for all ages during the month-long celebration. This is the second year for the community event that will feature activations and themed events for residents and visitors to the Heritage District. Discover Gilbert, the tourism marketing arm for Gilbert, will be promoting the festivities on a dedicated website, www.HarvestintheHD.com. The website details all the activities being planned, including a list of participating downtown merchants and their fall specials, new menu items, events and offerings.

Family Nights at Harvest in the Heritage District

Gilbert Parks and Recreation will host a series of free, family-friendly events every Thursday evening in October near Heritage Marketplace, presented by Earnhardt San Tan
Hyundai and Felix Construction.

The series kicks off with ¡Viva! A Celebration of Hispanic Heritage on Oct. 3. Additional programming will include a concert, variety show and spooky magic show. Complete details and times can be found online.

Fall Harmonies Installation at Heritage Marketplace

Human-powered fun is back this year from Le Monde Studios. The Fall Harmonies installation features larger than life musical instruments for all ages.

Guests can expect a 10-foot-tall banjo, a 9-foot-tall violin and returning this year is the popular guitar-shaped slide — featuring 18 feet with a new tunnel added for little ones.

All installations feature lights and sounds of the season, which become audible with crank-style movement. Installations will be located in the pocket park at Heritage Marketplace, west of Barrio Queen, 388 N. Gilbert Road, Gilbert.

Community Mural Event at Gilbert Mural Pocket Park

The community is encouraged to grab a paint brush Saturday, Sept. 5, and join local artist Camila Ibarra as they create a mural reflecting cultural celebrations from across the globe — including Día de Los Muertos, Halloween, Oktoberfest, Mid-Autumn Festival and National Native American Heritage Month.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. The mural will remain on display throughout the month of October. Located south of #39 American Legion, 206 N. Gilbert Road. The registration link to select a time slot to participate in the painting activity will be posted online.

Autumn Glow in the District

The town is providing photo opportunities with this year’s enhanced fall décor and lighting. Residents can look for camera icons around the Heritage District to find the best spots for capturing the season.

Residents can use #DiscoverGilbert for a chance to be featured.

The Hearne Way hoop lights will be coordinated to the colors of the season and fall foliage and décor will be displayed along the lamp posts lining Gilbert Road between Elliot Road and Vaughn Avenue.

Those interested in getting complete event details and updates on activities taking place throughout October, including merchant specials and fall-related events, can visit www.HarvestintheHD.com.

The community mural, Fall Harmonies installation and fall décor will be on display through Nov. 3.
