Gilbert giving residents chance to win smart irrigation controller at workshop

Posted

Starting Oct. 3Gilbert Water Conservation is bringing back free landscape workshops that will take place throughout the month.

The workshops are designed to help residents learn about hummingbird and butterfly gardening, Gilbert's water resources and tips for using traditional and smart irrigation controllers.

In-person and virtual options are available.

A Rachio smart sprinkler controller will be raffled off at each workshop for those who attend on site. Smart controllers automatically adjust watering schedules based on the weather to save you time and money.

Most of Gilbert's water is used outdoors, making efficient water use important with less water from the Colorado River.

The first workshop is "Hummingbird and Butterfly Gardning" from 6:30-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3

Residents can learn how to create a vibrant, water wise landscape that's also a haven for hummingbirds and butterflies.

The rest of the schedule is:

  • Oct. 10: Gilbert Water 101
  • Oct. 17: The ABCs of Landscape Watering
  • Oct. 24: Getting to Know Your Smart Controller

All of the workshops will take place at Gilbert Town Hall, 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, in the Heritage Room, and online viewing is also available.

Residents can learn more and register at gilbertaz.gov/WaterWorkshops.
