Surprise tries to attract Cheesecake kings

Sweet event staged to draw attention from restaurant

This year’s National Cheesecake Day on July 30 probably went unnoticed for most, but it was an especially sweet occasion for the city of Surprise.

The city celebrated with an exciting new workplace activity in honor of the residents’ No. 1 most desired restaurant, The Cheesecake Factory.

Throughout the day, city employees from various departments brought their cheesecake with them to work, incorporating it into their daily work routine and the city launched #TakeYourCheesecakeToWorkDay on social media.

From the Police, Fire, Transportation and Water departments, cheesecakes were seen accompanying staff as they carried out their daily duties. These moments were captured in photos and shared on social media, showcasing fun and camaraderie.

The city also circulated an info sheet, titled “Surprise! We’re the Best New Location for The Cheesecake Factory!” on social media, highlighting why Surprise is a good spot for The Cheesecake Factory’s next restaurant.

This campaign was inspired by the results of the 2024 Surprise Retail Survey. Conducted annually, this survey collects feedback from residents about their favorite local dining and shopping spots, as well as the new establishments they wish to see in the city.

This year, with more than 5,000 responses, The Cheesecake Factory emerged as the clear favorite, topping the list as the most wanted new restaurant.

“The overwhelming response to this year’s survey underscores our residents’ strong desire to see The Cheesecake Factory in Surprise,” said Surprise Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic. “We are thrilled to celebrate National Cheesecake Day in such a fun and engaging way, and we hope this campaign shows The Cheesecake Factory just how much our community would welcome them.”
