Surprise pizza joint hiring staff before opening

Lou Malnati’s needs workers for its fall opening in Prasada

Chicago-based Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria announced that it will officially make Surprise home to its ninth location in the Valley.

The deep dish pizzeria is slated to open its Surprise location in the Village at Prasada at 13382 N Prasada Parkway in the fall.

In anticipation of its grand opening, it’s now hiring and invites all candidates to join its “Team Deep Dish.”

Hiring more than 80 employees, Lou Malnati’s Surprise is currently accepting applications for all positions and experience levels, including bartenders, servers, cooks, and phone staff.

Candidates can apply easily online at loumalnatis.com.

Lou Malnati’s Surprise will also be hosting a hiring event that is open to all interested applicants from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11.

The hiring event will be held at Residence Inn Phoenix NW/Surprise, 16418 N. Bullard Ave., while Lou Malnati’s Surprise is under construction.

At the hiring event, applicants will have the opportunity to learn about the open positions and be interviewed onsite by hiring managers. Walk-in applicants are welcome. Interested applicants are asked to provide proof of authorization to work in the United States and a resume, if applicable.

“Lou Malnati’s is a family-owned company that is growing and expanding in the West Valley,” said Stephanie Morgan, general manager of Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria Surprise. “The pizzeria is looking for team players with a strong work ethic; we provide paid training, free employee meals, employee benefits, and a fun work environment. The brand was recognized as one of Chicago Tribune’s Top 100 Places to Work for 14 years in a row and was voted as a National Top Workplace for the third year in a row.”

Lou Malnati’s opened its first restaurant in Phoenix in 2016, followed by locations in Arcadia, Scottsdale, Glendale, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, and most recently in Tempe in December 2022.

The 6,650-square foot Surprise location will be a full-service restaurant and bar with a private dining room. The restaurant will be dine-in only to start, with plans to launch carryout, delivery, curbside pickup and catering services later this year.

Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria’s menu is highlighted by its Chicago-style deep dish pizza, but also offers tasty thin crust and Gluten-free crust, along with signature appetizers, salads, pastas and desserts.

“The Malnati family has become famous for our original deep dish pizza recipe, top-notch quality, and hospitality since opening in Chicago in 1971,” said Marc Malnati, Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria owner. “We’re excited to continue that tradition and bring the family’s legacy to Surprise. We are passionate about supporting the local communities we serve and can’t wait to share our food, family, and hospitality with the Surprise community.”
