Surprise needs service volunteers in September

Posted

The city of Surprise is seeking volunteers for its September Day of Service event.

The community is encouraged to join the city from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Surprise Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard Ave.

For this event, the Surprise Human Service and Community Vitality Department is partnering with Just Serve to host a project honoring 9/11 and supporting our troops serving overseas.

Volunteers will have an opportunity to assemble care packages, write letters to the troops and decorate the boxes in which the care packages are being sent.

Additionally, volunteers can also help assemble feminine hygiene kits for the nonprofit organization Women4Women.

How to get involved:

Individuals and groups of up to 10 people can register for this event at surpriseaz.gov/DOSVolunteer.

Registration is available online until at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13.

Those who want to register after that must call 623-222-1612, or email Atour.Bethishou@surpriseaz.gov.

The following Surprise Day of Service event is Saturday, Oct. 12.
