Suspect arrested in San Tan Valley sexual assault

In searching for a suspect in connection with the sexual assault of a woman in San Tan Valley, PCSO posted stills from security photos on its Facebook page. A suspect was arrested on Wednesday.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a suspect in connection with a sexual assault in San Tan Valley.
On Wednesday, a female jogger was followed and groped by a man near East Ocotillo Road and North Cambria Drive, according to a social media post from PCSO.
The suspect was later observed on security footage at several local businesses and PCSO posted two stills from the video footage. An arrest was made hours later.
“Because of a new court ruling, we can’t share his name or mugshot with you. But we can tell you that he is off the streets and in our jail tonight,” PCSO posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday.
On Sept. 7, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that posting mug shots of people arrested on government websites was illegal pretrial punishment.
The ruling against Maricopa County was the result of a suit filed by a man arrested of assault in Phoenix. The suit challenged the Maricopa County Sheriff’s department’s practice of posting on its website photos of anyone processed through its jail, according to a report from Capital Media Services.
