The boy who died from heat-related issues following his rescue from a hike on South Mountain has been identified at Cortinez Logan.
Police said the 10-year-old and his family recently moved to Phoenix from Missouri.
The boy died Tuesday after suffering “heat-related emergencies” while hiking with his family on South Mountain, Phoenix police said.
Detectives are investigating the death, which occurred after officers were called just before 3 p.m. July 2 to the South Mountain Park and Preserve to assist an injured hiker.
The boy was airlifted to an ambulance and taken to a hospital in critical condition. He died later from problems caused by the heat, police stated in a release.
