OVERNIGHT WORK

Southbound I-17 restrictions begin Friday

Posted

Pavement work this weekend will require restrictions along southbound Interstate 17 between State Route 74 and Dixileta Drive.

The stretch of freeway will be narrowed overnight from Friday until Monday, Oct. 4-7.

Specifically, work will take place from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday; 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday; and 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The top layer of asphalt pavement has been removed, and specialized equipment is now being used to diamond grind the base concrete pavement that ADOT officials said will create a smoother, safer and longer-lasting riding surface along six miles of I-17.
