In a remarkable turn of events that demonstrated God’s grace, what began as a disappointing forfeit transformed into a thrilling celebration of community spirit and sportsmanship for Valley Christian Schools.

When the opposing high school football team bowed out last minute due to a lack of eligible players, Valley Christian’s junior high team fearlessly stepped up to the challenge.

This happened with a team not only claiming its first victory of their season by a nail-biting 28-20 score, but also capturing the hearts of their entire community and earning a homecoming win within the final 18 seconds of the game.

Valley Christian Schools students and faculty found themselves on the brink of disappointment, only to emerge in a spectacular celebration of spirit and sportsmanship.

As the day of the highly anticipated homecoming game approached, excitement buzzed through the halls. Yet, just days before the kickoff, an opposing high school football team bowed out, citing a lack of eligible players.

The mood shifted from eager anticipation to uncertainty and determination to move forward.

Valley’s junior high team, in their first official season, seized the opportunity to rise to the occasion. The field was packed with parents, students, teachers, and alumni including our high school football team, who rallied on the sideline around the next generation of players, creating an electric atmosphere filled with pride and camaraderie.

The junior high boys came out strong and determined, rising to the occasion with every play.

With just two minutes left on the clock, they tied the score, igniting a wave of excitement throughout the stands. The high school boys rallied around them in support on the field, and the spirited cheers from our high school girls’ spirit line echoed through the crowd, proving that together, we are unstoppable.

Then, with only 18 seconds remaining in the game, they scored a stunning touchdown, clinching a thrilling 28-20 victory.

All players, cheerleaders, students, and community stormed the field as the last play finished to sing the school fight song and celebrate their Junior High Team for capturing their homecoming win.

This win didn’t just mark the first triumph of their first official season; it gifted the entire school a homecoming celebration to remember forever in school history.

This wasn’t just a game. It was a testament to the strength of the entire Valley Christian community.
