INPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
Arizona State University police arrested a suspect Saturday night who reportedly showed a gun as he ran away from the Greek Leadership Village on the Tempe campus, authorities said.
Police received a call at about 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, about a man witnesses said was acting suspiciously and had a gun.
The suspect, Jesus Pineira, was placed in custody quickly, according to police. He was being booked into jail Saturday night on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, police said, adding the supect is not affiliated with ASU.
No one was injured, and ASU police said they have not received any reports of Pineira pointing the gun in the direction of any specific person.
“ASUPD would like to recognize the students and staff residing in the GLV who acted quickly and decisively by noticing a suspicious individual and contacting police,” authorities tweeted late Saturday night.
