Tempe lifts restrictions at Town Lake following algae bloom

Paddleboarding and other activities have resumed at Tempe Town Lake after the city removed restrictions following a seasonal algae bloom.

Officials put the ban in place March 6 “out of an abundance of caution,” so the water could be tested.

The tests were conducted out of state, and the restrictions were lifted March 19 after results revealed the water met safety standards, according to the city.

The restrictions were imposed on standup paddleboarding and other activities where there was a likelihood of exposure to the water.
