The band began in 1998 under the direction of conductor Charlie Musgrave and is the backdrop to the recently released full-length documentary, “Jewel of the Desert,” produced and directed by Mary Apick.
The film captures and explores the musical talents of the 38 band members and presents an inside look at the power of music and the significant role it plays in our lives. “Jewel of the Desert” will be submitted for Academy Awards consideration and various film festivals worldwide.
“As the only British Style Brass Band in the Phoenix area thrilling audiences for more than 25 years, I can say without a doubt our December concert will be hottest ticket this holiday season,” said Bob Ouren, the Desert Brass Band musical director. “Our music attracts an audience from a wide-range of ages and backgrounds and this concert is guaranteed to captivate music-lovers and take them on a unique musical journey.”
Logan, an internationally acclaimed star, is a singer, trombone player and songwriter. Her music crosses many genres of music, including classical, jazz, blues and pop.
