Members of the Estrella Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, attended the Sept. 27-28 Arizona State DAR “Cactus Kickoff,” the annual fall workshop. The event, in Tucson, featured breakout training sessions, state club meetings, networking and shopping.

The workshop highlight was the Friday night event “Kicking Up Your Heels for DAR,” featuring a performance by Rex Allen, Jr., the songwriter of one of the two Arizona state songs, “I Love You, Arizona.” Members were asked to wear cowgirl boots and attire to celebrate the theme.

The workshop closed with a depiction of DAR’s First President General Caroline Scott Harrison by special guest Elaine Sholty, State Regent of Indiana, and the presentation of awards and certificates from the 2024 Continental Congress.

Daughters of the American Revolution Society was founded in 1890 with the mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. Women descendants of persons who served or aided the cause of the Revolution are eligible to join.

The Estrella Chapter meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month, October through May, at the Sun City West Foundation, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.
