SPAM has fun giving back to the community

Several times a year, SPAM’s club members hand craft holiday themed paper goody baskets for residents participating in Sun City West’s Meals on Wheels (MOW) program.

Recently SPAM’s MOW team, headed-up by Sally Erickson, packed up 30 gift bags each containing 10 handmade greetings cards. The cards, which were made by SPAM’s members, consisted of an assortment of all-occasion cards to include those for birthdays, sympathy, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Thinking of You sentiments, and a blank card.

As an added treat, a colorful butterfly refrigerator magnet, to let the residents know SPAM club keeps them in mind, was included in each card pack.

Learn how to make hand-crafted greetings cards or traditional and digital scrapbooks. SPAM meets in Beardsley Rec Center’s Agave Room, 12755 Beardsley Road, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Call club president, Lynne Marion at 623-666-6386.
