Local Daughters attend Sun City West farmers market

Posted

Members of the Estrella Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, attended the Sun City West farmers market Oct. 4.

They featured Regent Laura Linton’s project for her administration, Pups n’ Warriors. The Pups n’ Warriors organization trains service dogs for veterans and first responders. They train the participant’s personal dog or provide a rescue dog. Estrella Chapter hopes to provide the funding for training one dog during each of the two years of this administration. The cost is about $1,300 per dog. Information pamphlets and dog accessories such as synthetic bones and balls were available – a choice of two items for a $5 donation.

The chapter is also a sponsor of Wreaths Across America. For a $17 donation, booth visitors could have a wreath placed on a veteran’s grave Dec. 14. Wreaths

Across America is a national nonprofit organization with the goal of placing a wreath on every veteran grave in all of the National Cemeteries. Wreaths funded by donations through Estrella Chapter will be placed at the Phoenix National Cemetery at Cave Creek. On that day wreaths will be placed on veteran graves nationwide.

Information about Daughters of the American Revolution and the Estrella Chapter was distributed to many interested women and the chapter’s inventory of T-shirts, wine glasses, placemats and more was also available for purchase.

The Estrella Chapter will be at the Sun City West farmers market on Fridays through Nov. 22.

The Estrella Chapter meets on the second Thursday of each month, October through May, at the Sun City West Foundation, 14465 W. R.H. Johnson Blvd.
