Traffic delays expected along 99th Avenue as lights fail

Posted

Editor's note: This story was updated at 10 a.m. Sept. 17.

Several traffic lights along 99th Avenue are out or blinking red and may cause some traffic delays, according to the Maricopa Department of Transportation.

"We are aware of that. We've received multiple citizen reports that lights are out on 99th Avenue and Bell Road, Greenway Road, Olive Avenue and the Agua Fria Parkway," said Tiffany Graham, a MCDOT representative.

The traffic lights at 98th Avenue and Bell also seem to be affected, she said.

The traffic lights went out in the afternoon Sept. 16.  Traffic signal maintenance crews continue to work the situation, she said, but she could not estimate on when service may be returned to normal.

The problem appears to be an issue with the traffic controllers, Graham said.
