Artist donates work to upcoming Sun City show, sale

Josh Thompson has donated his artwork to the Artists by The Lake Club’s second annual fine arts show and sale 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 24 and 25 at the Lakeview Center, 10626 W. Thunderbird Blvd.

Thompson’s painting is for the raffle to benefit the Artists by the Lake Club. He will also be at the show demonstrating his style 10 a.m.-noon Sunday, Feb. 25. Thompson’s landscapes frequently interpret places from his hikes in Oak Creek, Sedona and trails surrounding Prescott. He also paints abstract, non-objective paintings as well as experimental art using metallic acrylic paints. He has participated in many art shows and co-chairs this show.

Thompson, a Sun City and Prescott artist, is a member of Artist by the Lake club and treasurer for the Palo Verde Art Club in Sun City as well as art clubs in Prescott.

In addition to the raffle to benefit the club, there will be a silent auction for Bonnie Temperley’s art, daily demonstrations by artists and a gift shop, which will have small items club members made for the sale. Artists will be available throughout the show to answer questions and help with art purchases. A “Peoples Choice” award will be given at the end of the show based on visitor votes.

The Artists by the Lake Club is located at Lakeview Center on the second floor. Classes are now forming in drawing, pastel, acrylic and oil. All levels welcome. Individuals must have a valid RCSC card and a check for $10. Visit the art room 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, call Deb Dahlin at 315-491-9650 or email debdahlinart@yahoo.com for more information.
