Terry Cuellar

Posted

Terry, 72, passed away peacefully on October 19, with his wife by his side. He was born on May 23, 1951 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He moved to Arizona as an adult but was forever a Texan at heart.
Terry worked first in banking, then was hired by Gerold D. Hines Interests in Houston, Texas, to begin his career in commercial real estate. He was on the management staff at One Shell Plaza, and then became manager at Post Oak Tower.
In 1984 he founded Cuellar Realty Services Inc. Ranking Arizona rated it as one of the top 10 Commercial Property Management firms and top 10 Commercial Broker firms for 11 years. He served in the Institute of Real Estate Management of the National Association of Realtors as President of the Greater Phoenix Chapter as well as a Regional Vice President. He also has served as an expert witness for law firms and as a consultant for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.
Terry loved to work. He loved his company and everything about Commercial Real Estate. He was known for his ability to do complex mathematical problems in his head, faster than one could put the numbers into a calculator. His battle with MS forced him to sell the company he loved.
Terry was very social and cherished his friends. He started a second battle against Alzheimer’s, but never lost his smile. A short visit from a friend would light up his face. His parents gave him his Catholic roots that remained strong throughout his life.
Family was central in his life. His every Friday lunches with Autumn meant everything to him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Cuellar; his daughter, Autmn Harrell (Ivan); son, Tory Cuellar; step-son, Matthew Carns (Sara); brother, Dolph Cuellar; sister, Mary Ann Knowles; and granddaughters: Ivana, Adison, Edith, Emma and Halle.
