Fearless Kitty Rescue was recently named Fountain Hills’ 2024 Non-Profit of the Year by the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce at its gala event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Chamber.
“Fearless Kitty Rescue is very proud to accept this award on behalf of our donors and volunteers,” Steve Hedden said, president and CEO of Fearless Kitty Rescue. “We cannot accomplish what we do without the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our individual and corporate donors.”
Fearless Kitty Rescue looks forward to many more years of saving kitties’ lives and providing them a home until that “right person” comes along, Hedden added.
Fearless Kitty Rescue also celebrated a milestone in May with an open house commemorating the 3,000th intake.
The 3,000th intake was a female kitten named Archer and in honor of this milestone, Fearless Kitty Rescue set a donation goal of 3,000 cans of kitten food which was far exceeded.
In June, another microchip clinic was held featuring a total of 24 cats and dogs being chipped. Fearless Kitty Rescue started offering free microchipping in 2022, and it has since turned into a quarterly clinic with microchip manufacturer Fi Nano donating all the microchips.
To date, the rescue has chipped a total of 119 cats and dogs at these clinics.
The next clinic will be held in October with updates available online and in its newsletter at fearlesskittyrescue.org.
The first phase of Fearless Kitty’s Capital Campaign was completed March 31, 2023.
A project with the goal of buying the building that houses the rescue, the first phase allowed enough capital for a down payment and in the next seven years, the goal is to raise $585,000 toward the final purchase of the building.
Launched in February of 2024, the Silver Whiskers program is dedicated to felines aged seven years or more with special adoption packages and free adoptions for adopters over 60.
The program covers general veterinary care and funding for dental procedures for senior kitties. For more information about the Silver Whiskers program, visit fearlesskittyrescue.org/silver-whiskers/.
“We have had so many success stories with this effort from a 15-year-old Calico whose ‘new parents’ literally saved her life to an eight-year-old kitty adopted with a kitten,” said Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Schaeffer, adding that Fearless Kitty takes in and adopts approximately five senior kitties a month.
