Elizabeth, affectionately known as “Betty” to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on July 29 2024, in Sun City, Arizona. She was born on January 29, 1936, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Betty will always be remembered for her loving personality and her deep adoration for her grandchildren. She had a passion for baking cookies and it was no surprise when she earned the endearing nickname of “Grandma Cookie” among her grandchildren. Her memories of baking will forever live on in those who had the pleasure of tasting her delicious treats.
One of Betty’s proudest accomplishments was becoming a member of TOPS, showcasing her dedication to personal well-being and a healthy lifestyle. She was a devoted and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Sun City, where she was cherished for her kindness and unwavering faith. Betty also shared a love for traveling with her late husband, collecting numerous antiques during their adventures together.
Betty is survived by her daughter Patricia, son John and his wife Kathy, 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters who will cherish her memory forever.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband John and daughter Cynthia and her husband Jim. Their memories will continue to bring comfort to those who mourn their loss.
In every batch of cookies baked and every antique collected, Betty’s spirit will live on. Her legacy of love, warmth, and kindness will never be forgotten by those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace dear Betty, may your soul find eternal peace in the embrace of your loved ones who have gone before you.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Menke Funeral and Cremation Center on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Betty’s church, The First Baptist Church of Sun City, at 10:00 a.m. with a Graveside Service to follow at 11:30 a.m. at Sunland Memorial Park.
