Cooley: Tom Durham deserves to be re-elected

Posted

I want to thank the pseudonymous “Scott Dalevoter” for reconfirming who I am voting for in the Scottsdale City Council primary election.

Despite their social media scare tactics, it's abundantly clear to me that Tom Durham deserves to be re-elected to council. Yes, Durham's voting record includes approving seven apartment developments, but that's identical to Tammy Caputi's record and aligns 86% with how Betty Janik and Solange Whitehead voted.

If “Dalevoter” thinks nearly 117,000 Scottsdale votes were miscast during the 2020 general election cycle, when Durham and Caputi were first elected, he's mistaken.

Hiding behind noms de guerre doesn't disguise the fact that “Dalevoter” uses fearmongering rhetoric in an attempt to scare and incite less-informed voters. Their exaggerated claims and online polling samples (less than 0.04% of Scottdale's population) are an act of desperation to promote other candidates with less rational views.

Scottsdale must move forward, not in reverse. Durham has shown us how to do that and stay within the guardrails of Scottsdale's General Plan.

Think for yourself. Review ww2.scottsdaleaz.gov/council/meeting-information/agendas-minutes/archived-agendas-minutes and re-elect Tom Durham.
