Ironwood Crossing wins Queen Creek’s ‘Neighborly Award’

Posted

As part of the town’s 35th anniversary, Queen Creek has chosen a neighborhood for this year’s QC Neighborly Award.

The winner is Ironwood Crossing with two submissions highlighting how residents are staying active in their neighborhood, according to a town Facebook post.

This year, Ironwood Crossing residents created and placed a Free Little Library in their neighborhood clubhouse to promote reading and community.

“To date, more than 300 books have been donated, purchased and found new homes and neighbors to read them,” the post continued.

For its second submission, Ironwood Crossing residents of all ages continued adding to its “Slitherin Sloan” rock painting project.

The snake began with 25 rocks and more than 100 have since been added.

“This creative, ongoing project fosters daily interaction, strengthens community ties and preserves our small-town feel,” the post stated.

As its prize, Ironwood Crossing has been offered a free spot in the QC Hometown Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 7. In addition, residents are invited to accept the award during the Wednesday, Oct. 16 Queen Creek Town Council meeting.

Submissions for the award closed on Monday, Sept. 23, and the nominees were posted on Nextdoor for voting between Sept. 24-29. The winner was announced on Monday across all social media platforms.
