Peoria residents may schedule household hazardous waste pickup

Improper disposal of Household Hazardous Waste can cause fires in the city's solid waste vehicles, contaminate the water system, and endanger our environment.

The city's solid waste division collects HHW from your home several times a year.

Scheduling for pick up us is open now. Collection dates are Oct. 7-25.

To schedule an appointment call 623-773-7836 or visit www.peoriaaz.gov/HHW.

Acceptable items for pick up are: household chemicals marked dangerous, auto batteries, paint thinners, pesticides/insecticides, rechargeable batteries and aerosol cans.

Antifreeze, gasoline, motor oil and oil-based paint are accepted but the limit is 5 gallons per household

Items that are not accepted: ammunition, appliances, electronics, radioactive materials, explosives, medical waste, prescription drugs, sharps, commercial waste, latex paint and tires.
