Miller: We support Thomasson for mayor

Posted

Anna Thomasson is a mayoral candidate in our upcoming municipal elections. My wife and I live in Paradise Valley. The one-acre zoning for homes in PV makes this a truly privileged and special place to live.

Several years ago, as the PV council was considering changes to Mockingbird Lane, we had a chance to engage with several council members who were responsive to our concerns. Vice Mayor Thomasson (at the time) stood out, as did Julie Pace, as council members who were both engaged in the issue, knew all the facts, took the time to listen to our concerns and then helped craft a solution, many of the affected homeowners were comfortable with.

Later, Andaz, a resort in PV, was seeking to add guest casitas to their property. Ms. Thomasson was, once again, proactively involved, listening to neighbors and working with Andaz to help them understand the reasonable noise concerns of adjacent PV homeowners.

Since 2022, I've met and spoken with Anna more than a dozen times and am consistently impressed by how well she listens and is able to solve problems by working with staff, her fellow council members and other stakeholders, like the Andaz resort owners. Her 35 years of consulting for some of the biggest names in the Fortune 100is evident in her professionalism, her ability to listen and her willingness to work with all the stakeholders. It is also evident when discussing neighborhood issues with Anna that she thoroughly researches the issues.

She has our vote for mayor.  We believe the Town will be exceptionally well served by a Mayor Thomasson because of her professional skills (developed advising some of the country’s biggest corporations) as well as her ability to work with all the stake holders in our community, while still protecting our town's character.
