During a work session scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, the Glendale City Council will hear the results of the now completed Airport Eastside Development Plan.

The study assesses Glendale Municipal Airport’s future capacity to plan for development of new facilities and meet future demand. There is 120 acres of vacant land on the east side of the airport.

The primary consultant was Coffman Associates, and the sub-consultant was C&S Engineers. The assessment began in December 2022 and was completed in the spring of 2024.

At the meeting, Glendale Transportation Director Shahid Abbas  will discuss recommended design layouts. Highlights include discussions of:

  • Potential construction of a new taxiway on the east side of the existing runway.
  • Existing conditions of the area.
  • A market analysis
  • Facility Planning Criteria
  • Final Development Concepts
  • Development Costs and Schedules

The Federal Aviation Administration and the Arizona Department of Transportation took part in the study.

Tuesday's meeting is at Glendale Civic Center. 5750 W Glenn Drive.
