Downtown Glendale rolls out Front Porch Festival

Posted

A fall tradition returns to Historic Downtown Glendale at the 30th Annual Front Porch Festival & Old Towne Marketplace from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.

This free, family event takes in many shops and eateries throughout the Catlin Court and Old Towne Entertainment districts have fall-themed activities planned for the day including themed make and take crafts, seasonal flavored menu items, specialty tea experiences, and autumn-inspired gifts and décor. Experienced artisans, emerging makers and specialty crafters will have displays and live art demonstrations throughout the area.

Scarecrow Stroll returns this year with decorated scarecrows on display at the front doors and porches of many shops and eateries. Begin (or add to) the Downtown Glendale charm bracelet featuring an autumn-themed charm. A kindness rock painting booth is available for attendees to decorate two rocks; one to keep and one to hide.

“This treasured event began three decades ago when my mother-in-law, Linda Burner, wanted to start an annual tradition to welcome visitors to the area to explore the downtown and meet the business owners,” stated Valerie Burner, event chairperson and owner of Bears & More.

Begin at the Arizona Information Center at Memory Lane Trinkets and Treasures, 5836 W. Palmaire Ave., to pick up the activity list and event map. The first 100 guests will receive a free event sticker.

The Front Porch Festival & Old Towne Marketplace is sponsored by the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association in partnership with downtown business community. For information, go to www.visitdowntownglendale.com or call 623-299-2060.
