A “Turkey Day” event to collect food for the hungry will take place between 8 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Nov. 18 at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, 13459 West Stardust Blvd. in Sun City West.

People are asked to donate frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items and cash or checks. The drop-off point is the parking lot at the corner of Stardust Blvd. and 135th Avenue.

Donations will enable hundreds of people to have a Thanksgiving meal that would otherwise not be possible. The donations will go to local food banks. Checks should be made out to Desert Palms Presbyterian Church with “Turkey Day” noted in the memo line.

Donuts and coffee will be served that Saturday morning at the church.
