Cultural event evolves into CulturePOP

The Tale of Two Cities Festival began with a partnership six years ago between the Cities of Avondale and Goodyear to celebrate Arizona’s Centennial, and the event changed into a cultural celebration that included a parade and festival. In 2019 the event has evolved into CulturePOP, the ultimate Block Party, and takes place 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Estrella Mountain Community College, 3000 N. Dysart Road, Avondale.

Featured entertainers include The Chadwicks as the headliner, PowerDrive, and more. Last year’s acts included Rock Lobster, Phoenix Afrobeat Orchestra and other cultural performances.

The Chadwicks are an Arizona-based cover band that originated in Tempe in 1994 and have performed consistently ever since.

The CulturePOP Block Party brings together cultures. The event is a family friendly, community event featuring street performers, cultural demonstrations, kids activities and food, beer and wine from around the world.
