Novel weaves author’s real experiences with history of Augusta National

Sun City West resident Mark Ambrosius self-published his first book on Amazon, titled “My Walk Among the Pines.”

“It is a story about a fictional character who, at age 62, tries to compete in the USGA Mid-Amateur, in hopes of making it to the greatest golf course in America: Augusta National,” a news release states.

While following the experiences of the main character Marcus, the book weaves in history about The Masters, Augusta National and legendary players who played there.

“Many of the experiences … are reflections of my own life, to this point,” the author states. “Sans the great golf, of course.”

The storyline was created during two trips to Augusta National to watch the Masters, he explains. Mr. Ambrosius notes that “unfinished business” with his real father, as well as unexpected health concerns, led him to reflect while walking Augusta.

“Plot lines were drawn from intermixing the golf holes into my life’s journey,” he states, “and Marcus’.”

The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, in both eBook (Kindle and Nook) and in paperback.

Mr. Ambrosius and his wife were winter visitors for three years before moving to Sun City West full-time this past fall.
