Midwestern grant funds spay, neuter clinic in Sun City

Sun City residents will have a chance to spay or neuter their pet free of charge.

A spay and neuter clinic will be hosted by the Sun City Fire and Medical Department 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 16 at Station 131, 17017 N. 99th Ave. Pet owners can have the procedures performed by appointment only, according to Rob Schmitz, SCFMD battallion chief.

“This is not an event where people can just drop in with their pets,” he said. “You have to call ahead to make an appointment.Call 480-382-5807.

The Midwestern University, 19555 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, College of Veterinary Medicine Shelter Medicine Club will perform the procedures. The clinic is funded through a grant received by the university, according to Mr. Schmitz.

Pet owners who make an appointment for the clinic are asked by Midwestern officials to not feed their pet after 10 p.m. Friday, March 15.Vaccinations for distemper/parvo and rabies will also be available at the clinic.
