Parker man ID’d as victim of fatal shooting in Chino Valley

CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) — Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials have released the name of a Parker man who was fatally shot last weekend in Chino Valley.

They say 58-year-old Delton Griffith drove a pickup truck onto a property unannounced, became stuck in a garden area Saturday night and fired at least one gunshot before two 48-year-old men returned fire.

No arrests have been made in the case and sheriff’s officials say self-defense is a factor in the investigation.

Prosecutors will ultimately decide whether any criminal charges will be filed from the shooting death.

County sheriff’s officials say an autopsy is expected in the next few days.

Detectives also hope a toxicology test will determine if Griffith was impaired at the time of the incident.
