The Coyotes will retire Shane Doan’s No. 19 during a pregame ceremony Sunday before they face the Winnipeg Jets in Gila River Arena in Glendale. The ceremony starts at 5 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m.
Doan spent his entire 21-year career with the franchise before retiring prior to the 2017-18 season. The 13-year Coyotes camptain owns the franchise record for career goals, assists, points, games and shots.
The Coyotes’ opponent on the night of the retirement ceremony holds significance because Doan was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets seventh overall in 1995 and followed the franchise to Arizona when it relocated a year later. The current Winnipeg Jets were originally the Atlanta Thrashers and relocated in 2011.
Doan will be the seventh player to have his number retired by the franchise and the first who spent the majority of his career in Arizona.
