Glendale man suspected of arranging to meet girl for sex

Phoenix police arrested a man outside a Glendale restaurant on suspicion of trying to arrange to have sex with a girl.

The girl, however, was an undercover officer. The parents the man met at the restaurant were also undercover officers.

Phoenix police said Matthan Timon Filice, 34, was booked into jail Tuesday on charges of luring a minor for sex and child sex trafficking.

On March 3, Mr. Filice is suspected of talking to undercover officers via email and text messages about meeting with their 13-year-old daughter for sex.

He reportedly arranged to meet the girl’s parents at a restaurant near 59th Avenue and Bell Road on Tuesday.

The “parents” asked Mr. Filice to bring gifts to meet, which he did: a candle, a greeting card and necklaces, records state.

While there, he had a phone conversation with a female he believed to be the 13-year-old girl. He reportedly talked of having sex together.

The undercover officers told him that as compensation, he would give their daughter gift cards. He agreed and arranged to meet her the next day.

However, upon exiting the restaurant, Phoenix officers took him into custody without incident.

Mr. Filice was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond. His next court date is Tuesday, March 19.
