Surprise Education: High school graduations set for Thursday

Dysart Unified School District high school seniors are graduation this week at State Farm Stadium, 1 Cardinals Way, in Glendale.

The four DUSD high schools will see off their seniors on Thursday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. (Willow Canyon), 3:30 p.m. (Valley Vista), 5:30 p.m. (Dysart) and 7:30 p.m. (Shadow Ridge).

Parking is free.

May 16 is also the final day for seniors.

Final exams set for next week as year finishes

Final exams are set for Monday, May 20 and Tuesday, May 21 across the DUSD system.

May 21 is also the final day of school for all students.

Peter Piper to host year-end yearbook parties

Peter Piper Pizza, 12851 W. Bell Road #20, is hosting a yearbook signing and end-of-year family celebration for Kingswood and El Mirage elementary schools.

Students at Kingswood Elementary, 15150 W. Mondell Road, will have their part from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.

Students who don’t attend will be able to pick up yearbooks at school on Monday, May 20.

The party for students from El Mirage Elementary, 13500 N. El Mirage Road, El Mirage, is set for 5 to 8 p.m. on May 16.

Countryside band to hold final concert of year

The band from Countryside Elementary School, 15047 N. Parkview Place, is hosting its final concert of the year on May 15.

It happens from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Valley Vista Performing Arts Center, 15550 N. Parview Place.

Sunset Hills hosting annual Sports Banquet

Athletes at Sunset Hills Elementary School, 17825 W. Sierra Montana Loop, will be honored on May 15 at its Sports Banquet.

It takes place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.

Celebration, play make for big day at Sunset Hills

Sunset Hills has two other big events on tap with its Kindergarten Celebration and First Grade Play, both on May 16.

The Kindergarten Celebration takes place from 5 to 6 p.m. in the school’s gym.

The gym will host the play right after at 6 p.m.

DUSD schools hosting dances to celebrate

Several DUSD schools are holding Eighth-Grade Celebration dances this week.

Thompson Ranch Elementary School, 11800 W. Thompson Ranch Road, is hosting its at 6 p.m. on May 16.

Canyon Ridge Elementary School, 17359 W. Surprise Farms Loop N., is scheduled its dance for 6 to 8 p.m. on May 17.

The dances for Kingswood Elementary, 15150 W. Mondell Road, and Marley Park Elementary, 15042 W. Sweetwater Ave., are both set for 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 17.

Sonoran Heights Elementary School, 11405 N. Greer Ranch Parkway, is inviting fifth- through eighth-graders to its dance from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 17.

El Mirage Elementary, 13500 N. El Mirage Road, is hosting an eighth-grade dance from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 20.

Kindergarten celebrations all across district

Several DUSD elementary schools are hosting kindergarten celebrations this week.

Cimarron Springs Elementary, 17032 W. Surprise Farms Loop S., is holding its event from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on May 16.

The El Mirage Elementary Kinder Promotion/Celebration is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. on May 20.

The Kingswood Kindergarten Celebration of Learning is set for 10 to 10:40 a.m. on May 20.

The Marley Park Kinder Celebration is set for 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the gym.

Mountain View School, 18302 W. Burton, is hosting its Kinder Celebration of Learning Program from 3:15 to 3:45 p.m. on May 17.

Thompson Ranch is hosting its Kinder Promotion at 9 a.m. May 17 with a Pre-K Celebration set for 10:15 a.m. (morning students) and 2:15 p.m. (afternoon students).

The Kindergarten Celebration at Western Peaks Elementary, 18063 W. Surprise Farms Loop S., is set for 9 to 10 a.m. on May 20.

Sonoran Heights is hosting Kinder Celebration from 8:45 to 10:15 a.m. on May 20.

Surprise Elementary School, 12907 W. Greenway Road, has its party set for 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on May 20.

Field Day set for May 17 at Kingswood

Kingswood Elementary is hosting its Field Day 2019 from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17.

Kindergarten through fourth grade goes from 8:30 to 11 a.m., while fifth- through eighth-graders go from noon to 2:30 p.m.

The school is also hosting two sessions for its Preschool End of Year Celebration on May 20.

The morning students will go from 9 to 10 a.m., while the afternoon students are scheduled from noon to 1 p.m.

Both events will be held in the school’s PreK classrooms.

Ashton Ranch awards gala set for May 16

Ashton Ranch Elementary School, 14898 W. Acoma Drive, is hosting part of its 4th Quarter Award Ceremony on May 16.

The seventh- and eighth-graders go first at 8:30 a.m., with the sixth-graders to be honored at 9:30 a.m.

The awards will continue at 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on May 20 when it will be the fourth- and fifth-graders’ turn.
