Asante Prep preparing for opening day in Surprise

Dysart Unified School District will open its new school, Asante Prep, 23251 N. 166th Drive, on Aug. 6.

Asante Prep will open its doors on the former campus of Desert Moon Elementary, which closed years ago because of declining enrollment.

The principal of Asante Prep is Emily Dean, who has been with the district for seven years.

Asante Prep is focused on meeting the needs of all students and giving students the opportunity for acceleration at their individual pace, allowing eighth-grade students to receive high school credit.

Those who currently reside within the boundary of Asante don’t need to apply. Others interested in enrolling, visit Dysart.org.

DUSD schools begin Aug. 6

The first day of school for Dysart Unified School District schools is Tuesday, Aug. 6. Imagine Prep, 14850 N. 156th Ave., begins its school year Thursday, Aug. 1. The first day of school for Arizona Charter Academy, 16025 N. Dysart Road, is Monday, Aug. 5.

Paradise Honors High School hosts curriculum night

Paradise Honors High School, 12775 N. 175th Ave., will hold its annual curriculum night at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21. The event will start with an opportunity to greet the student’s counselor and learn about the services provided from the school’s counseling team. The student will then learn about his or her individual schedule, course curriculum and grading and evaluation practices. Visit paradiseschools.org.

OUAZ visits Shadow Ridge for orientation

Jeff Penzone, a senior enrollment adviser at Ottawa University Arizona, will be on the campus at Shadow Ridge High School, 10909 N. Perryville Road, Thursday, Aug. 22 for any senior students interested in attending OUAZ after graduation. Mr. Penzone will discuss OUAZ’s vision and mission, application requirements, student life, athletics, important dates and more. Any senior students interested in attending the one-hour orientation must sign up with Ms. Falandys in the counseling department. Students will be released third hour to go to the media center classroom for this presentation.
