Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, Phoenix Children’s Chorus perform together Sept. 29

Posted

Two of Arizona’s most celebrated performing arts organizations — the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix and the Phoenix Children’s Chorus — will come together for a powerful musical event on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m.

The two will unite their voices at the annual Legacy Concert Series, held for the first time at the Tempe Center for the Arts, a press release explained. This year's program will feature individual performances by both ensembles, as well as a special collaborative finale showcasing the richness of multigenerational choral singing.

The event aims to promote social cohesion and inclusivity, reinforcing the belief that music has the unique ability to transcend barriers and foster community across generations.

"This concert not only highlights the beauty of artistic expression but also spreads a message of love, compassion and hope into the broader world,” Dr. Brook Larson, Artistic Director of Orpheus Male Chorus, said in the release.

Artistic Director of Phoenix Children’s Chorus Troy Meeker also added in the release that by bringing together singers of all ages, they are celebrating the enduring power of music to bring people together.

A heartwarming highlight of the evening will be a father-daughter duo performing together. Skip Richards, a member of the Orpheus Male Chorus, and his daughter, Lily, a singer with the Phoenix Children’s Chorus, will share the stage.

“In this combined choir, we are not just father and daughter; we are fellow artists sharing our passion. This concert is a celebration of our bond through music,” Richards said in the release.

Tickets are priced at $18 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $8 for children ages 10 and under. Note that a $1 service fee applies to tickets purchased via phone or at the box office, while a $3 fee applies to online purchases.

Tickets are available through the Tempe Center for the Arts box office by calling 480-350-2822, or online at www.tempecenterforthearts.com.

Box office hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with onsite ticket sales opening at 2 p.m. on the day of the concert.
