4 Kyrene schools earn A+ grade

Posted

The Arizona Educational Foundation has awarded four schools in the Kyrene district the 2024 A+ School of Excellence award.

Eleven Kyrene schools  hold an A+ recognition, and the four selected this year are:

  • Kyrene Aprende Middle School.
  • Kyrene de la Mariposa Computer Science Academy.
  • Kyrene de la Sierra Elementary School.
  • Kyrene Traditional Academy.

Kyrene Aprende is the first middle school in the state to receive the award four times in a row, and Kyrene de la Mariposa has received the award five times in a row, according to a release.

Kyrene de la Sierra was previously recognized as an A+ School of Excellence in 2018, and Kyrene Traditional Academy is renewing its A+ status, last awarded in 2019.

Schools applying for recognition take part in a process that includes a written application, on-site visits by a team of judges and participation by faculty, students and families.

Schools are evaluated in areas such as school culture, curriculum, leadership, assessment data and community involvement, the release stated.

Schools receive an A+ School of Excellence banner and a $500 award.
