Your name: Shelby Bach.

Town/Neighborhood: Surprise.

What is your title/occupation? Kindergarten teacher.

What school or department do you work/volunteer at? Asante Preparatory Academy.

How long have you worked here? Since August.

What do you like most about your job? My students! They are so fun and I love being able to make a difference.

What are you excited about on your campus/in your department and why? I love how Asante is a big family and everyone will come together to help each other whenever it is needed.

When and why you moved here? Lived here my whole life. Born and raised.

What do you like most about living here? I love how I have seen Surprise change over the years. I was born and raised in Surprise, and I have watched Surprise grow to what it is today.

What changes would you like to see in this area? The changes I would like to see in the area is to include more family activities.

Favorite community cause and why? My favorite community cause is Friends of the Surprise Libraries. I think this is a great nonprofit organization that promotes literacy and reading programs.

Who is in your family? I got married to my high school sweetheart in October 2022. I have two older brothers and my mom and dad who still live in Surprise. My mom is also a teacher at Asante.

What are your interests and hobbies? My interests and hobbies include camping and going to the lake with my family.

If you could pick another occupation, what would it be? If I could pick another occupation it would be a veterinarian. I love animals especially dogs. I have a goldendoodle named Waylon who is a big deal in my household.

Describe one of the happiest moments in your life: The happiest moment in my life is when I married my highschool sweetheart, Jordan. All of our family and friends attended and it was everything I could imagine.

What is your best and worst habit? My best habit is being organized and making sure everything has its place. My worst habit is staying up late watching TV shows.

What traits do you admire in others? The traits I admire in others is someone who is caring and can light up a room when they walk in.

Who is a person that inspires you and why? A person who inspires me is my mother. She is kind-hearted and will always make sure everyone is taken care of. She is selfless and cares so much about everyone around her. She has made me into the person I am today and I can’t thank her enough for that.

What is your guiding philosophy? Be present and enjoy the moment.

What is your advice for today’s youth? The advice I would give today’s youth is to never give up on your dreams. Work hard and remember to love and cherish the ones around you.
