Development in District 4

The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the City of Surprise Public Safety Evidence and Readiness Center Rezone at their meeting on July 16. The facility is located on the NE Corner of Bell Road and Grand Avenue and the site is approximately 4.54 acres. When completed, this building will house police evidence and property storage and accommodate overall public safety tactical storage in one logistics center.

This project was approved as part of the Decide Surprise 2017 Bond and will provide cost efficiencies by consolidating storage requirements for Surprise Fire-Medical Department and Surprise Police Department. For project updates and additional information, you can view the project webpage at surpriseaz.gov/3629/Public-Safety-Evidence-Readiness-Center.

Face Coverings

The Declaration of Emergency Proclamation requiring face coverings within the City of Surprise is still in effect. Please continue to wear face coverings in public settings where it is difficult to maintain a physical distance of six feet. Please also remember that there are exceptions for individuals that are unable to wear a face covering due to a health condition, disability, or those whose religious beliefs prevent them from wearing one. Be kind to one another, and remember that there are those that might not be able to wear a face covering.

Council Meeting Schedule

The next regularly scheduled Council Meeting is on Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. The City Council Chambers are currently closed to the public, but Council meetings are broadcast live on Surprise TV at surpriseaz.gov/surprisetv. Cox channel 11 and Century Link 8513 also carry the meetings live. Check the agenda, when posted, for instructions on public comment.
