Highland Prep in line for STEM certification

Highland Prep is a candidate for the Cognia STEM Certification.
The Surprise-based charter high school would become the fifth high school in Arizona and one of only 38 high schools internationally to receive this certification for STEM education programs.
During the next three months, the school community willgather artifacts showcasing students’ engagement in STEM learning. Cognia STEM Certification provides a research-based framework to validate the quality, rigor and substance of STEM educational programs.
Through the certification protocol, institutions and programs build awareness, increase expectations and demonstrate anability to deliver high-quality STEM education.
Cognia STEM Certification:
• Combines a data-driven internal and external diagnostic review processes to provide educators with a clear roadmap to sustain continuous improvemen.
• Demonstrates a school’s ongoing commitment and capacity to prepare students for STEM fields of study and work.
• Communicates to postsecondary business and industry leaders that the school is committed to driving higher levels of student achievement.
• Allows STEM school leadership to engage stakeholders in a continual evaluation of educational and learning conditions and strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
