Harlem Globetrotters to appear at El Mirage school

Three players coming as part of 2024 world tour

El Mirage Elementary School will be hosting three members of the Harlem Globetrotters 2024 world tour for “The Great Assist” event series on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

This event, in partnership with Jersey Mike’s Subs and the Harlem Globetrotters, celebrates youth and community members who are pursuing “The Great Assist” through exemplifying leadership, sportsmanship, and commitment on and off the court.

Players to appear are ‘Hops’ Pearce, ‘Buckets’ Barrarra and ‘X-Over’ Thompkins.

Students will receive lunch provided by Jersey Mike’s Subs, Globetrotter players will demonstrate their ball-handling skills on campus, and award one campus leader with a “Great Assist” award. 

It takes place at 1 p.m. at El Mirage Elementary School, 13500 N. El Mirage Road, El Mirage.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 1 to 1:30 p.m. -- Student lunch courtesy of Jersey Mike’s Subs
  • 1:40 p.m. -- Globetrotters Mini-Skills Showcase
