Ground Floor Artists, a 501-C3 organization based in Surprise, had its ribbon cutting with Mayor Skip Hall March 6, 2020, and had to close its studio the next week had to close because of the spread of the coronavirus.

In spite of that rough year, owner Kelley Smith stated in an email that Ground Floor is flourishing and growing membership, offering artists a space to create at 13343 W Foxfire Drive, Suite 3.

The site has 27 artists studios with 34 resident artists whose mediums span all art groups, plus a classroom that artists can rent.

Artists from several states teach classes there. Ground Floor also has four clay wheels and all the equipment needed for clay artists.

Ground Floor’s gallery features shows that change out every month. A few of the shows last two months like the members show this May and June.

In March, the gallery exhibits the “4 Common Corners” Art Quilt group. In April, the feature will be a juried show entitled “Famous Landmarks.”

Ground Floor requires face masks and encourage social distancing. The studio includes a art gift shop where members can show and sell small works.

This studio is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Ground Floor operates a website at groundfloorartists.com, as well as Facebook and Instagram accounts, both found by searching Ground Floor Artists.
