Benevilla to host workshop on Zoom
Topic is ‘Ways to Avoid Financial Exploitation of Older Adults’
Posted
Benevilla is set to host its next online “Educate with the Experts” interactive educational event during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Titled “Ways to Avoid Financial Exploitation of Older Adults,” the live teleconference will be offered via Zoom 1:30-2:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 14. Presenter Aimy Edwards, branch manager of Washington Federal, will discuss ways to stay protected from financial exploitation.
According to the National Council on Aging, while likely under-reported, estimates of elder financial abuse and fraud costs to older Americans range from $2.9 billion to $36.5 billion annually. Financial abuse is the largest form of elder abuse.
Tips on how to recognize, reduce and guard against the risk of elder financial exploitation will be discussed, as well as how to plan for unexpected loss of the ability to manage finances.
To reduce the risk of public exposure, Benevilla has chosen to convert their education workshops into live stream, online video events. Benevilla will use the safe and intuitive Zoom audio/video conference platform to host these live presentations.
Benevilla will continue, for the near future, using the online format for the workshops. Upcoming workshops will cover a broad range of important topics from in-home care management and hospice to estate preparation and tax savings tips.
Speakers are all carefully selected professionals who can answer questions and provide guidance and resources needed to prepare for senior life changes especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
