The Arizona Swing Kings big band will present “The Great American Songbook … and All That Jazz” 3-4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Desert Palms Presbyterian Church, 13459 W. Stardust Blvd. Admission to the concert is free. A donation of $12 is suggested.

“The band was a huge hit last April and we’re thrilled to have them back,” said Wendy Fentiman, director of music ministries for the church.

Swing Kings leader Jim Lee, promises an emotional joyride: “One minute you’ll be grinning and tapping your toe, and the next you’ll be reaching for a tissue. The players in this band are just that good!”

In addition to Great American Songbook favorites such as “You Make Me Feel So Young” and “Take the A Train,” the band will offer more recent fare such as Thad Jones’s “Don’t Git Sassy” and Buddy Rich’s arrangement of “The Rotten Kid,” complete with audience participation.
