The next monthly meeting of the Sun City West Sportsman’s Club is 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in the R.H. Johnson Social Hall. Members and guests can meet with the various group leaders from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and have their questions answered. There will be a short business meeting starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by the guest speaker, Jack Milinovich, a retired swim coach currently swimming with the Sportsman’s Club Masters Swim Team. His topic will be “The Competitive Swimmer.”

The hiking group continues with weekly hikes every Thursday. Snowbird hiking season continues through April 30, meeting in area 14 of the R.H. Johnson parking lot to sign liability waivers and pair up drivers and riders. Departure times change by month due to sunrise and temperatures. Michael Anenen is the hike coordinator and communicator. He will send emails each week detailing the upcoming hike. He and several other volunteers will lead the C and B hikes.

The SCW Masters Swimmers has coached workouts 7-8:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the R.H. Johnson pool.

The Sportsman’s Club offers Sun City West men and women a multitude of other outdoor Arizona activities. These include ATV/UTV riders, Big Wheels, Easy Riders, birding, boat fishing, shore fishing, GEOcaching, horseback riding, clay and target shooting, hiking, walking/jogging and Masters Swimming.
