Plona: Trump team gets down and dirty

Posted

This was the headline in The Washington Post on Labor Day: “Trump aims to drag down Harris as he scrambles to keep up in a tight race.”

The gist of the article was that according to the polls, Trump and Harris’s favorability rating is about even. And since there is little chance of Trump’s standing improving, he and his advisers see their only hope of winning the election is to damage hers.

We saw it play out last week on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform.  It showed a screenshot of Harris and Hilary Clinton with the caption “oral sex impacted both their careers differently.” In another screenshot, Clinton, Obama, Biden and Harris were pictured in orange jumpsuits.

In the same week, JD Vance, Trump's running made told Harris to “go to hell” because of comments he claimed she made, but didn’t.

Earlier in the campaign, Trump questioned her racial identity, which she has always been upfront about.

A couple of days after receiving the vice presidential nomination, Vance compared her to Jeffrey Epstein.

Sadly, Americans have been used to down and dirty presidential campaigns and since Lee Atwater,  Republicans have excelled in them.

Watch for Trump and his campaign advisers to “drag down Harris” in any way they can.
