Cantrell: Vote 'yes' to retain safe streets

Posted

Vote yes to retain safe streets as we all know them today during the upcoming Sun City West election March 25.

Your yes vote will make it possible for the Sun City West streets to continue as planned for the community over 40 years ago. More importantly, our streets will be safer and quicker for emergency service vehicles, allow for more visibility by all driving residents and visitor, safer for bicyclists riding in our community, and safer for resident walkers with or without dogs. And lastly, a yes vote will maintain overall better street appeal for the entire Sun City West community.

A vote to continue Sun City West’s current monitoring of street regulations is required by the Arizona Revised Statue 33-1818 passed last year by the State Legislature. This is a one-time opportunity for our residents to provide their input into wanting our association to continue enforcement of current regulations and not shift the responsibility to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. Responses from the sheriff’s office may require their determination as to the necessity of responding to parking issues versus use of valuable personnel for more pressing matters.

Voting begins online at 8 a.m. Monday, March 18, and goes through 3 p.m. Thursday, March 21. Or vote in person, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, March 25, at the R.H. Johnson Library.
