Sun City church begins musical events

Wednesday Night Alive offers much

American Lutheran Church, 17200 N. Del Webb Blvd., will host a weekly special musical and culinary event that is open to the public.

Wednesday Night Alive! will feature music performances and guest speakers beginning with a program at 4:30 p.m., a catered meal at 5:15 p.m. and concluding with a program at 6 p.m. Highlights of the upcoming WNA series include a keynote address by Admiral Cecil Haney, a Veteran’s Day tribute by Dan Reed’s patriotic trio, The Royal Renaissance singers presenting Christmas classics, music by the Beatles, a presentation about Sitting Bull with Buffalo burgers as the meal, and even a visit from Martin Luther.

The series kicks off Nov. 3 with a special gala program “Celebrate,” featuring music by the Cimmaron Sidekicks at 4:30 p.m. and Sun City Desert Aires at 6 p.m. 

Attending the programs is free. Tickets for the meals must be purchased in advance, no later than noon the previous Monday. Tickets for the gala event meal are $12 and tickets for the meals the following weeks are $10. Tickets can be purchased after each church service or in the church office with cash or a check, or by visiting the church’s website, alcsuncity.org, with a credit card. 

American Lutheran Church welcomes all visitors. Worship services, rooted in the Lutheran tradition, are 4 p.m. Saturdays and 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sundays. Coffee and fellowship follow the 8:30 a.m. service. The worship is filled with inspirational messages and music led by the choirs, soloists, bell choir, pipe organ and many talented musicians. American Lutheran hosts many concerts during the year, including a devotional concert by the choir, “Light Shines in the Darkness” by Michael John Trotta 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. There are also opportunities for weekly Bible study, grief support and Stephen Ministry.
